Where are we?

Cerdyn Villa Guesthouse  is situated on the outskirts of Llanwrtyd Wells, Powys.  THe location is tranquil and picturesque with our home positioned in the Irfon River valley. We are surrounded by mountains: The Epynt Range, Black Mountains,& Cambrian Mountains and  Brecon Beacons. From the B&B,  it is only 10 minute stroll to the centre of Llanwrtyd, where, despite its size you will find 3 pubs, a microbrewery and 4 restaurants, including 3 acclaimed chefs.

Our house was built at the turn of the century as a country villa to a coal baron. It is now a family home to us and our son, Jason, and , our free roaming hens and our rescue cat, Doppel.
We offer bed and breakfast accommodation in 2 double en-suite guest rooms and an outside annex family suite. Our guests are treated as friends and can feel at home in our house. There are all the usual ‘mod-cons’ : free WIFI connectability, TV and DVDs in rooms, tea and coffee facilities. In addition, each room has a mini fridges in which to store fresh milk and chocolate!

Hair dryers and ironing boards are available on request.

We are happy to hang or rinse muddy clothing should you get wet (yes, even here in Wales!).

Rest, Relaxation, Wellbeing

We pride ourselves on offering a holistic service, and are happy to guide you in advance of your stay.  We can provide you with information about activities, workshops and days out.  It would be our pleasure to help you organise a Wellness Break. Why not take some additional ‘me’ time and enjoy a holistic treatment, massage, spa or crafting workshop?

Throughout the house you will see photographs and paintings by local artists as well as artwork and cards by Berni, your host. You are welcome to enjoy or buy the pictures to take home with you. Both B&B rooms have en-suites with showers, they are snug and cosy with beautiful mountain views.  Our family annex overlooks the garden.  It comprises a double bedroom, tiny single, sitting area with sofabed, kitchenette and bathroom with double walk-in shower.

In the rooms at Cerdyn Villa B&B you will find lots of useful local information in our welcome guide. There is further Tourist Information  located in the Neuadd Arms Hotel and in the Llanwrtyd Heritage Centre. Both are just a 10 minutes stroll from the B&B. John and I are also more than happy to suggest and advise on outings and local events.

A bit of luck…

We hope you love it here as much as we do.  The day we fell in love with this house and decided to move here, the sky had just cleared following a heavy shower. The sun came out; a perfect rainbow filled the sky; and the farmer and his dogs were working the sheep. It was an idyllic moment, a snap decision and one we never regret for a moment.

In 2005 years ago Hubby and I, and our then seven year old son moved from the hectic hustle and bustle of city life in the busy East of England. We found a haven in this tranquil, rural setting in the Heart of Wales.

In fact we are about as in the middle of Wales as you can get, in the smallest town in the UK, Llanwrtyd Wells in Powys.

We happened upon Llanwrtyd in a frantic need for respite from the stresses of Hubby’s corporate life and ended up sticking a pin in a map on a page of nothingness.  We came for two night’s refuge and didn’t go home. Wellness and wellbeing became the focus of our lifestyle.

There was light over that horizon.  For hubby the time BLW (Before Llanwrtyd Wells) was never ending commutes; road rage; and stressful, unsatisfying work environment.  It was unhealthy, unforgiving, and it was slowly breaking him.

Finding our spiritual home…

When we arrived in LW that wet weekend evening we chanced upon a little bistro with no other customers barr one friendly Welshman.  He happened to be the ex headmaster of the village school, an eager pupil arrived, meeting him for some additional education support.  We chatted for ages.  The next day, also rainy, we perused the properties for sale, daydreaming of our distant retirement.  The next day we did a bit more than window shop and went viewing a few cute houses.

That night we talked and talked and talked.  Why were we waiting until our retirement to live our lives?  What if we didn’t make it there?  What about the quality of life for our son, educated in overcrowded classrooms in Essex, unable to play outside alone etc etc?

The next day a blazing orange sun rose over the horizon and lit our future path.  We put an offer on the house.  In Essex we handed in our notice at our respective places of work.  Our son was pulled out of school.  That was October 2004.  On 4th February 2005 we drove towards the light of our new future.

And we have never looked back.
